Aftercare Instructions

After Your Laser Treatment

What to Expect:
-
The treated area may appear white, swollen, and possibly show pinpoint bleeding right after treatment.
-
Blistering or oozing is normal and should heal within 7–10 days.
-
The tattoo will appear foggy at first and gradually begin fading over the next month.
-
Treatments are scheduled every 4+ weeks to allow proper healing.
-
You may resume normal daily activities immediately, but avoid irritating the treated area.
-
Wait at least 24 hours before bathing or removing the initial bandage.

-
Apply an ice compress over the bandaged area frequently during the first 24 hours to minimize blistering and scabbing.
-
After 24 hours, remove the bandage and gently wash the area with soap and water. Pat dry.
-
If you are not allergic to topical antibiotics, apply an over-the-counter cream such as Bacitracin, Polysporin, or 3-in-1 Ointment, then cover with a non-stick bandage.
-
If you are allergic or unsure, apply Petrolatum Jelly (Vaseline) instead — this is equally effective in aiding healing.
-
Keep the wound moist, covered, and clean until fully healed (5–15 days). Change dressings daily.
Care Instructions

-
Do not pick or remove scabs; this increases the risk of infection and scarring.
-
If itching occurs, apply 1% Hydrocortisone cream (available over the counter).
-
Avoid clothing that rubs against blistered or scabbed skin.
-
Do not shave over red or swollen areas.
-
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and public water during healing.
-
Protect the treated area from sun exposure; apply SPF 30+ sunscreen once healed and continue for 6 months.
Important
Before Your Next Laser Treatment

-
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least two weeks prior to treatment.
-
A prescription topical anesthetic may be applied one hour before your appointment to help reduce discomfort.
-
Do not take Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, or similar products before treatment.
-
Notify your doctor if you are currently taking antibiotics or other photosensitive medications.

Treatment Plan
Tattoo removal typically requires multiple treatments spaced 4–8 weeks apart. Your clinician will recommend a plan tailored to your tattoo, skin type, and healing response.
